Paul di Resta planning to stay with Force India

Force India’s Formula 1 rookie Paul di Resta has stated that he would surely be looking to extend his contract with the Britain-based team for the 2012 season.

The Scottish driver added that he came in Formula 1 sport with Force India with a mindset of spending more than one season with the team.

He stated, “There are many things you hear, but you don't know. I really don't know where I am next year. Naturally, I'd love to be with a bigger team battling up at the front, that's my ambition, but Force India is an up-and-coming team.”

Di Resta added that Force India have not improved on their 2010’s progress and have actually gone backward with development for the 2011 season. The Scottish driver added that he sees a lot of potential in the team to bounce back in Formula 1 in near future.

“This year has been more difficult than we thought. We've not picked up from where we left off last year. But sometimes things go down before they go up, and you take one step back to go two steps forward,” he said.

A look at the points table tells that di Resta has not been up to the mark and is 16 points behind his teammate Adrian Sutil in the drivers’ championship.

However, the British driver has performed exceptionally in the qualifiers and often is ahead of Sutil. In the Silverstone Grand Prix, di Resta made it to Q3 in front of his home crowd.

Nine races are still to be contested in the 2011 Formula 1 season and it will be interesting to see how di Resta performs because he might be considered for one of the bigger teams as there will be some vacancies for the 2012 season.

Let’s see how he fares in the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix.

Glock signs three year contract with Virgin

Timo Glock today pledged his future to Virgin Racing by signing a new three-year contract.

On the occasion of Glock's home grand prix in Germany, the deal takes the 29-year-old through to the end of the 2014 season.

Despite running at the back of the grid since Virgin Racing entered Formula One at the start of last year, Glock had no doubts he wanted to remain with the team.

"I was frustrated, as with everyone else at the team, at certain moments last year," said Glock.

"But for me that takes two to three hours to subside and then I reset myself for the next weekend.

"For some reason everyone has asked me this weekend how I can still be motivated fighting for P20 at the moment.

"It doesn't matter whether I'm fighting for a podium or P20. That's how I was motivated last year and this year.

"I set my target for a weekend, I just want to get more than 100% out of the package we have at the moment, and that's what I am doing."

Glock, who spent two years with Toyota before joining Virgin, has expressed his frustration with the car on many occasions, not least yesterday after qualifying.

Team principal John Booth believes it "vitally important" Virgin have retained Glock's services as his experience is invaluable.

"We're very pleased he has faith in the team going forward, and it's another stamp on our way to becoming a sensible team," said Booth.

"Timo's had tough times with the team, been a real hard ass at times, pushing me, the team and pushing himself.

"But what we are seeing now is a result of Timo's hard work."

As for team-mate Jerome D'Ambrosio, who had no idea Glock was due to be confirmed today just minutes prior to the media conference, the Belgian's future remains uncertain.

Booth added: "Jerome has done an absolutely fabulous job for us this year.

"We are in discussion with his management and it would be great to go forward with him.

German Grand Prix, Nurburgring Circuit Race - Result

It will be a race that every German Fan, British Fan, Spanish Fan, Indian Fan, Australian Fan and all others around the world will going to remember. The race that was a victory in itself for Mclaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, Force India and Mercedes in itself.

The race provided glimpse of overtakings all with shear drivers talent without any aid of DRS with some ferocious battles and manoeuvers.

Though Lewis won the race, the thriller that could be at one stage looking in hands of Mark Webber, Red Bull and at another in hands of Fernando Alonso, Ferrari. But it was a race where everyone excel their racing limits to overpower their own competitors.

Lewis Hamilton and Mclaren above all, were a happy pit crew. After the poor practice sessions and a better qualifying - All the hardwork paid in favour of Mclaren as Lewis Hamilton get on the podium for his 16th Grand Prix victory and 2nd of the season. He is the only driver behind Sebastian Vettel to taste victory two times this season.

Lewis won a thriller between him, Alonso and Webber. Hamilton took the lead from Webber at the start lap but lost the lead after the first pitstop. Alonso keep a close watch on the two as he steadily keep pushing between them and at one moment was in a position to lead the race but could not get tyres on temperature to stay in front. Hamilton on the other hand charged past him for the race victory.

The top three drivers were in their own class as they lapped every other driver with only top six drivers on the lead lap. These three showed respect to their driving with Alonso was given a lift at the sidepod of Mark Webber car on the slow down lap to the podium.

Fernando Alonso hardwork paid off but as the cool temperature did not favour Ferrari and their Pirelli's, they could not managed to stay ahead of Mclaren but managed a 2nd spot on podium ahead of Mark Webber who for the first time this season lead the race for some laps.

Mclaren and Ferrari cut through the Red Bull dominance and a Red Bull could be seen only on the 3rd position and that too of Mark Webber.

World Champion and championship leader Sebastian Vettel had a bad day with only managed to secure the 4th position. His first non podium finish of the season out of the 10 races. But the homeboy certainly made crowd go loud on the final lap as the struggle for 4th position with equally brilliant driving by Felipe Massa come to an end with Vettel overtaking Massa in the pits as Ferrari lost it on the pitstop.

Felipe Massa was leading Sebastian Vettel for P4 from nearly half of the race and Vettel was equally fighting to get ahead. But he was not able to make a move until the final lap. They both had to serve their final pitstop which both entered the pitlane on final lap together. It was Ferrari boys who lost in front of the Red Bulls and homecrowd go loud for the world champion.

Force India was a happy crew after their star German driver Adrian Sutil finished the race in 6th position after holding that position for all the race with a perfect 2stop strategy.

Both the Mercedes driver followed Sutil for P7 and P8 with Rosberg finishing ahead of his teammate Schumacher. Schumacher really worked very hard to gain that position after an early spin on Lap 24 which saw him dropped to 12th position.

Sauber after struggling through whole weekend made a comeback in the race as Kobayashi who started in 18th position finished P9 ahead of Renault only driver Petrov.

Heidfeld had a major bumpy accident after being hit by Sebastian Buemi on the final corner while trying for a overtaking maneuver.

Jenson Button also had a sad ending in the Mclaren consecutively for second time this season. He had to retire from the race due to hydraulic problem and parked the car in the pit garage on Lap 36.

Sergio Perez in the second Sauber finished 11th ahead of Jaime Alguersuari in Toro Rosso.

Paul Di Resta finished 13th but did a good job after an first lap incident with Heidfeld that dropped him to the last position. Di Resta and Heidfeld contacted and spun their cars while trying to overtake on Lap 1. Di Resta made his way up the field steadily to finish 13th. He was as high as 10th at one moment.

Maldonado was the only Williams finisher in 14th position. Barrichello had to retire early due to an engine failure.

Sebastien Buemi after starting in the last position due to fuel irregularity finished 15th.

Kovalainen in the Team Lotus finished 16th ahead of the two Virgins.

Rookie Daniel Ricciardo was the sole HRT finisher in 19th ahead of Indian Driver Karun Chandhok who finished last in those who classified.

German Grand Prix, Nurburgring Circuit, Qualifying Result

It was a thrilling qualifying session as the drivers fight hard for position.

Ultimately, Mark Webber came with the fastest time to set the third pole of the season increasing the tally to 10 out of 10 for Red Bull in 2011. His time of 1min 30.079sec was just onto the limit on the Nurburgring track but could not able to breach the 1min 29sec barrier.

Qualifying was a trouble free session for all with a hefty competition to mark some standards.

As it goes in Q3:

Lewis Hamilton made an amazing comeback in the qualifying with fastest time in Q2 and surprising final lap in Q3 to lodge himself just 5hundredth of a second behind Mark Webber separating the two Red Bulls at P2. As he goes P2, Hamilton says 'Wicked Lap' on the radio.

Sebastian Vettel could not improve his lap time and finished 3rd in the second run of the Q3.

The final top 10 shootout saw Fernando Alonso dropping to 4th even after improving the lap time. He was followed by Felipe Massa who was fastest in Q1.

Nico Rosberg with an amazing single run, dislodged Jenson Button to P7. Button had some problem with the car handling and could not better his time in Q3.

Adrian Sutil in Force India goes faster than Petrov and German fellowmate 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher. Schumacher was having problem with the car handling, and he could not improve much on his single run in the final session.

There were 4 German drivers out of 6 in Top 10 - Vettel, Rosberg, Sutil, Schumacher.

As it goes in Q2:

Q2 was a heck of a session for the mid level teams to get into the Q3. The top 6drivers including that of Mclaren, Red Bull and Ferrari did not made another run as they were positive with the soft tyres the time they set was enought to seek them through Q3.

Fight started for P7-10. It was more of between both the Force Indians, Mercedes and Renault. Nick was into the Q3 but relegated by his teammate Petrov in the end who goes 8th fastest to put Rosberg and Schumacher in P9 and P10. But as the chequered flag was waived in the dying moment, Rosberg went P5 with Petrov on P9 and Schumacher on P10. Di Resta gave up the fight and settled for P12 in the end. With both the Williams out in Q2 and will share 7 grid for the race.

Sergio Perez tried hard for the position in the Sauber but could not get better than P15 in the struggling Sauber. Toro Rosso also struggle for pace and went P16 and P17. There was not much of a fight for qualifying for Sauber, Toro Rosso in the end.

As it goes in Q1:

Q1 was much of a fight between Sauber, Toro Rosso, Kovalainen, Force India and Williams. At one time both the Force India were in the relegation zone, with the dying moments they went P2 and P5 for Sutil and Di Resta respectively.

Williams nearly missing the danger zone also. However Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber could not get through Q3 and settled for P18. But he has got two fresh tyres with him at the moment.

Heikki Kovalainen goes P19 as usual ahead of HRT and Virgin. He was followed by frustated Timo Glock who made it to P20 beating Chandhok in the later stage of Q1. Chandhok who is driving the Lotus for the first time this season, made some exceptional comeback after a poor practice sessions and finished at P21.

The Indian Driver was told to be within 1sec of his teammate and that the standard he had completed for now as a major achievement. This could be his only race of the season or may be more to come.

Jerome D'Ambrosio was in P22 with both the HRT's at the back of the grid with Liuzzi in P23 and Ricciardo in P24. However Liuzzi has to serve a five grid penalty for gearbox change.

All the drivers qualified the 107%rule for the race.
