FIA race director Charlie Whiting has completed his latest inspection of the new Indian Grand Prix track - as circuit bosses continue to make preparations for October's inaugural event.
With the asphalt for the Delhi circuit due to be laid on March 15, Whiting was said to be upbeat about the ongoing progress at the venue during his latest visit on Sunday to ensure that work was on schedule.
The track currently has its hard court layer down, while run off areas are nearing completion. Work on service roads around the facility is also underway.
Sameer Gaur, Managing Director of race organisers JPSI, said: "The progress since Charlie's last visit has been fairly rapid and all of us including Mr. Whiting are very pleased with the way things stand at the moment, and we are looking forward to the first Indian GP. The JPSIL F1 track will be complete ahead of schedule."
Whiting's final inspection of the track is due to take place on June 30, with the race scheduled for October 30.
President of the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India (FMSCI) Vicky Chandhok says Whiting is happy with what he saw.
"The track is well ahead of schedule," Chandhok told Reuters.
"He (Whiting) was very pleased. He liked the track and was impressed by the progress made so far. He suggested some changes which will be incorporated to encourage overtaking."
According to reports, run off areas are nearing completion, work on service roads around the facility is underway while the circuit has its hard court layer down.
