Jerez Test - Day 2

Click to follow

Second of the Four Official Formula One Pre - Season Testing - Circuito De Jerez, Jerez Test, Spain
Day Two

Glorious Michael Schumacher had topped the chart sheets for Day 2 of Jerez Test. The run on which Schumacher did the best lap was not a drastically low fuel run, at least not less than 10 laps. But it still was not a complete turnaround for Mercedes because, despite the fastest time, it took a lot of laps for his times to stabilise - and when they did they were around a second slower than where Red Bull was on similar runs.

Massa who was fastest yesterday was only 6 hundreth of a sec slower than Schumi.

Only 11 drivers tested on Day 2, with each team sending only one of their drivers.

Red flags were a common sight on day 2 also. Total of four red flags were seen with two spins, by Alguersuari and Petrov, and two crashes, by Perez and Maldonado.

It was difficult to find out which tyres the teams are using for testing as the identifiers for Tyres will only be seen in Bahrain.

Williams had a KERS battery warning for which the team had done a full battery strip to check-all ok, and with all due precautions they had not rushed on track due to safety issues with high voltage.

Force India stuck to mainly short runs on the second day out for the VJM04, with Adrian Sutil mainly in the 1m23s and 24s.

Vitaly Petrov was only 9th fastest having done two days of testing. He will be handing over the car either to Nick Heidfeld or Bruno Senna. Each one of them will be having one day each for testing.

Massa will be handling over the car to Fernando Alonso tomorrow with Paul Di Resta taking the seat for Force India.
