The Hispania Racing team is planning to test Vitantonio Liuzzi at the Barcelona circuit this weekend, as the Spanish squad evaluates him for its second racing seat.
Liuzzi was left without a drive after he was replaced by Paul di Resta at the Force India squad earlier this year.
Hispania is yet to name its second driver, having already signed Indian Narain Karthikeyan to race for the team in 2011.
A spokesperson from the team said Italian Liuzzi is expected to drive at the Barcelona test on Saturday, with Karthikeyan on driving duties today.
Liuzzi told Autosprint magazine earlier this week that he was in talks with three teams over possible drives for the upcoming season.
"Let's just say that there are three opportunities," he said. "I'm talking about contacts, not proper negotiations yet, and not all of them to race this year. We'll see."
