Race, British Grand Prix, Silverstone Circuit

It was a Ferrari day out in the wet-dry Silverstone. Ferrari Fernando Alonso won the first Victory for Ferrari of the season. A beautiful strategy by the team and error by Red Bull handed victory to the Ferrari.

As the race started on the wet intermediate setups due to the lot of water on the track, Vettel eventually take the lead on the first corner from the Mark Webber leaving Fernando Alonso on the 3rd position to carry on. The three carry the same way as they change for dry soft tyres after the first pitstop. But the Ferrari pace keeps on increasing with the track drying up.

And the second pitstop saw, Red Bull Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari Fernando Alonso entered the pitstop together with Vettel already their for pitstop but with problems with the Red Bull saw, Fernando Alonso leaving the pits ahead of Sebastian Vettel. This incident made Alonso leading the pack with Vettel dropped to 3rd behind Lewis Hamilton.

From there on, there was no stopping for Fernando Alonso who clearly took the lead and extended on to the other drivers with easily winning the race for over 20sec.

It provided an insight into the Ferrari speed and their capability as the second half of the season starts with it.

Red Bull, that started on 1-2, finished 2-3 behind the Ferrari. Their pitstop mistakes probably cost them the victory in the end. But still the recent changes by FIA have clearly stripped Red Bull of their pace.

It was a 3rd place and final podium gift to Mark Webber by the British Mclaren driver Lewis Hamilton who had been on a fuel saving economy run in the final few laps of the race. Although Mark Webber have tried to go for 2nd position in the final lap, as the team orders were allowed, he was advised or probably ordered to maintain distance between the two cars.

The competitive British GP also saw a final battle between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa as Massa tried his way on slowing Hamilton who did not give enough room and made contact with Massa on the final corner only to overtake him again to retain his 4th position. Felipe Massa in the 2nd Ferrari finished 5th.

Nico Rosberg who had a very slow start had made his way up the order and finished 6th just ahead of Sauber Rookie Sergio Perez.

Heidfeld in the struggling Renault hold off the 8th position from the 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher.

Michael Schumacher who started on 13th position quickly made some places in the first few laps, but their after he made his only mistake of the race that cost him a lot of points. He made a contact with Kamui Kobayashi that required a new nose for his car. Although pitstop dropped him to 18th initially but the changing track condition actually helped him and he made some quick fastest lap times which saw him again in the top 10 after the first pitlane poker. But the stewards have penalized him with stop and go penalty for the disaster. But after all this, rejuvenated Michael did not lose hope and finally made his way up the order to finish 9th with 2 points in the kitty.

Jaime Alguersuari in the Toro Rosso gets the final championship point.

It was a sad day for Force India again. They have started clearly ahead and strongly. Paul Di Resta and Adrian Sutil were in P7 and P8 before they made their 2nd stop. As they get ready for the 2nd stop, Force India pitcrew made a horrendous mistake as they get ready for Adrian pits, Paul di Resta gets in for tyre change and with pitcrew limping their way back into the garage for the Paul tyres, he losses places out their.

It was not all, Paul Di Resta hits the back of Sebastien Buemi car after he got out and knocking him out of the race and comes for a nose change. Any chance of point scoring for the impressive British homeboy rookie ended in vain.

Adrian Sutil was running 9th until he needed another stop which dropped him to 11th in the end.

Struggling Petrov finished 12th ahead of the two Williams. Barrichello in the end making his way past him teammate Maldonado for P13.

Williams looked slow as Maldonado car was overtaken by most of the drivers out in front in the early stage of the race.

Paul Di Resta finished 15th ahead of the two Virgin cars of Glock and D'Ambrosio followed by the two HRT's of Liuzzi and debutant Red Bull backed Ricciardo in another Hispania.

Ricciardo was the last classified driver.

Those who have not classified includes one of the front runner Jenson Button who had two side lane his car at the pitlane exit due to the right wheel nut problem. He was released from the pits without one of the wheelnut that saw the race over for the Briton. He was running in 4th at that moment.

Sebastien Buemi was knocked out by Paul Di Resta. His rear right tyre was blown due to the accident. He carried his car for some part of the race track before parking his car at the end.

Kamui Kobayashi who had an accident with Michael earlier, then a suspension damage due to wrong pitlane exit and finally halting to a stop due to engine failure as smoke comes out from the back of his car.

It was a awful bad day for Team Lotus also. Both their driver retired from the race with Kovalainen retiring with Mechanical problem on the 2nd lap itself. Kovalainen started the race in the best position for the team.
