Hispania Racing Team dropped driver Narain Karthikeyan has hinted that he will drive for his team once again at the upcoming 2011 Formula 1 German Grand Prix which is expected to take place at the legendary Nurburgring circuit.
He was replaced by the team’s test driver Daniel Ricciardo for the previous British Grand Prix. Vitantonio Liuzzi has been driving for the team quite actively on the other hand and it seems that the team does not want to replace him as they believe that his experienced driving is beneficial for them.
Ricciardo at first used to compete for the team during the practice sessions only but at this past weekend’s British Grand Prix, he took part during the race as well as a result of which the team secured a double driver finish.
However, it has been revealed that Karthikeyan will be driving Liuzzi’s car during the Friday practice sessions and his participation during the race has not been confirmed yet.
The Indian driver was quite disappointed after the team replaced him for this past weekend’s race and stated that the team has a contractual agreement with him regarding his participation in a fixed number of races during the 2011 Formula 1 season.
HRT officials on the other hand confirmed earlier on that Ricciardo will be participating for the team at the German Grand Prix during the race.
However, a spokeswoman of the team revealed that the team is yet to make an official decision regarding this matter.
“Narain will continue playing his key role in the team and get in the car when he is required. This will be decided in the coming days,” she said.
Both of the Indian drivers have been criticised by Force India team boss Vijay Mallya as well as he claims that they are just happy to be a part of Formula 1 and are not aiming for good results in the sport. Karun Chandhok, the second Indian driver of the sport is currently the test driver for Team Lotus.
