An F1 track for Mumbai could be a reality in the next five years with two global consultants UK based Capita Symonds and US based Louis Berger expressing an interest in helping build one for Mumbai. MSRDC vice chairman and managing director Bipin Shrimali confirmed this.
The state will now evaluate the proposals before finalising whom to award the contract to.
The consultant will help identify the location in Mumbai, in concept preparation, project formulation and also design and supervision during the implementation process. The consultants are likely to be finalised in the next one month and will take six months to prepare a report.
The MSRDC in August last year had decided to set up a sprawling 700 acre Race Track on the lines of a Formula 1 Track in Mumbai.
It had then floated tenders seeking consultants to help develop the project. The agency is looking at constructing the track either in the Malad-Marve region, near Kalyan or at the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
