Formula One will give Bahrain more time to decide whether its Grand Prix can be rescheduled this year while Turkey could be spared the axe in 2012, commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone said on Thursday.
“I suppose we’d be safe by early June or something like that.”
“Things can change in a couple of weeks,so you don’t know. All of a sudden everything might be peaceful in a month’s time and they are happy to run the event and so we are happy to be there.”
People also want Bahrain GP as some are backing it by online support.
Hundreds of people signed an online petition set up to support the staging of this year's Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, within hours of its launch.
The Bring Back Bahrain Formula 1 GP appeal was set up on Twitter yesterday by a user known as mShareeda.
It garnered almost 500 signatures within its first four hours.
In a message posted on the page, the creator described the Grand Prix as a key part of Bahrain's history.
They said the country's economy had improved and its name was now known around the world as a result of hosting the high-profile event.
