Friday Practice Session - 2, DHL Turkish Grand Prix, Istanbul Park




As the Practice Session 2 underwent, the weather gave way to put some lap times on track. Sun was out and there was no sign of rain for the session.

The track was almost dried as the session started. The optimum strategy opted by teams were to move out on prime tyres and then switching to optional tyres in the late run.

Sebastian Vettel accident in the first practice session did not allowed him to take part in the second practice session as car was heavily damaged and it will take time to rebuild the car. He will be back in action in the third practice session tomorrow.

Jenson Button smashed the time sheet to went just 6 hundredth of a second faster to the second man Nico Rosberg. With top 7 drivers in 5 top teams put some tough competition to put their time within 1sec of each other.

As the Mclaren-Red Bull rivalry seems to end in this race, The order at the top saw Mclaren-Mercedes rivalry set to take place a show down in the Turkish GP.

Lewis put the third best time while Schumacher was in 4th. The defending constructor champions Red Bull team was only 5th fastest.

With 3weeks time to upgrade, Mercedes seems to get things right on track as Norbert Haug also claimed recently that their pace in China was genuine and they seem to upgrade the same in coming races. For complete followup regarding the news, click here.

Renault may have a tough time for battle as they were only 7th and 13th fastest on timesheet.

Ferrari who seemed to get an edge in first practice session was off the pace in second session. Massa was only 6th fastest while Alonso was not able to put up a show and end the session at 11th position.

Force India new front wing and aero upgrades again put them in Top 10 as impressive rookie Paul Di Resta put the car in 8th position. Adrian was also on 10th in the time chart.

As the midfield was also set for fierce battle. Practice session 2 helped team analyse their true performance after a long break.

HRT upgrades showed promising results, and they have inched in to take over their closet rival Virgin in the race.

Practice Session 2 do not involved much of the incident only few spins or off track moments for drivers due to wet patches on track. Michael Schumacher again spun in the second session also as Maldonado went pass him causing a distraction for the 7 time world champion. Maldonado car was carried out off the track as he hit the barriers.
