Heikki Kovalainen has faith with team Lotus

Team Lotus driver Heikki Kovalainen has said that he is committed to the team and believes that it will help him get his career back on track.

Heikki used to be a part of McLaren before he joined Team Lotus in 2010 after being replaced by Jenson Button.

During his time with McLaren, the team secured the championship with Lewis Hamilton back in 2008 and since both of the drivers used similar cars, it was disappointing to see that Kovalainen was unable to pull off some good results.
“I feel that my career is back on the rise. I've consolidated my position after what happened at McLaren and my feeling is very positive,” Heikki told the media.

The young Finn believes that his career is back on track after going through three bad years in a row including one with Team Lotus.

He believes that the team has the potential to boost itself to the midfield and has produced a car which can enable him to perform well throughout the season.

“I have not looked anywhere else, I like it with this team. I'm not thinking about anything else, even in a not-serious way. We are right on track with what we have had to do and where we are going, so why would I have to go somewhere else?” said the Finn.

However, Kovalainen admitted that if teams like Red Bull Racing Team or Ferrari give him an opportunity, he would consider their offer.

Team Lotus have not been able to secure a single point since its return and are considered as one of the ‘back marker teams’ of the sport.

The third race of the 2011 Formula 1 season, the Chinese Grand Prix will be held at the Shanghai circuit this weekend.

Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing won the first two races in Australia and Malaysia. Let’s see if Kovalainen is able to produce something extraordinary in Shanghai or not.
