Luca di Montezemolo, president of Ferrari, said on Monday that the Prancing Horse's Formula One team needs to improve the performance of the 150 Italia in a short period of time.

Fernando Alonso's fourth-place finish in the Australian Grand Prix on March 27 is the team's best finish of the season. Teammate Felipe Massa's highest finish was fifth in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

"This cannot and must not be the team's level," Montezemolo said. "It's a very delicate moment. I expect our engineers to act with determination and know-how, unleashing the maximum of their capacity to improve the performance of the car in a short time. I want Ferrari to be at the level that both we and our fans demand it should be."

Team principal Stefano Domenicali and Ferrari engineers have started analyzing the data from the Grand Prix of China and the development program of the 150th Italia, according to the Ferrari boss.

The next race will be the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park on May 8.
