Mercedes chief Ross Brawn warned on Saturday, April 09, that Formula One teams may have to copy the design philosophy of all-conquering Red Bull if they are to have a chance of success.
Brawn, who led Ferrari to a near-decade of success with Michael Schumacher, said Red Bull have created a car that uses a high rear ride-height to make its front wing run closer to the ground and with visibly greater flexibility.
Despite murmured complaints from rival teams including Ferrari and McLaren, the sports ruling body, the International Motoring Federation (FIA) has made no objections to the Red Bull car.
"There's a new test this year. Red Bull obviously passed it so that's all there is to say about it," Brawn said.
"They've got a philosophy for their car and approach and teams have to decide if that's the reason -- or one of the reasons -- for their level of performance.
"If it is, then you need to consider going that route yourself -- or make sure it's not an excuse for the fact they're winning everything at the moment."
