The 33-year-old has not won a single race in a career which includes 172 Grand Prix starts, however he has managed to come second in eight outings.
Heidfeld is likely to lead Renault this season after Robert Kubica was seriously injured in a rallying accident.
The former Williams driver is looking to break his duck in the upcoming campaign.
He said: "I don't know, it's too early to say, but of course I would hope so.
"Everybody keeps asking me all the time, but I just don't know. If the car is good enough it will happen, but I'm not so tense in my head thinking just about a victory."
