The Pirelli PZero Tyres have been color coded for Dieheart F1 Fans to differentiate between the type of tyres.
All tyre side-walls now sport the phrase 'Pirelli P Zero', and it is this that changes colour like a rubberised chameleon. So, for the super-sticky 'slick' tyres this means:
SUPER - SOFT
RED
SOFT
WHITE
MEDIUM
BLUE
HARD
YELLOW
Full wet tyres are colour-coded yellow too, but these are distinguishable from slick hard compound tyres thanks to their prominent tread pattern. The intermediate tyres, much like the super-soft slick compound, also wear striking red. Again their weaving tread pattern makes these reasonably easy to spot at 200mph.
These colour-coded tyres will be distributed to the teams randomly by serial number, thus ensuring that no driver or constructor receives an unfair advantage. Also, overall allocation is down compared to last year, so the teams will now have to survive a whole weekend with eleven - rather than fourteen - sets of vibrantly decorated boots.
