Jenson Button believes that there is a chance for him completing a hat-trick of wins at the Australian Grand Prix next weekend.
The Brit shocked the Formula One world when he was first across the line in the 2009 Grand Prix in Melbourne as part of the then-Brawn GP team, before repeating the feat last year for McLaren.
Should the 2009 world champion win at Albert Park this year it would be nearly as big a shock as when he won it with Brawn, given the torrid time the McLaren team have endured in the build-up to this season.
Only Hispania racing have spent less time testing their car on the track than McLaren after the Woking-based team decided to delay the release of their car so they could develop it further.
Button had said McLaren's new MP4-26 hadn't felt as good as previous cars he had been in but still believes there is a chance he could make it a hat-trick of wins Down Under when the F1 season belatedly gets underway.
"I'm regularly asked if I can make it three wins in a row this year," he said. "On paper that might not look likely, but seriously, who knows? I most definitely wouldn't rule it out.
"Albert Park always seems to create unpredictable races, and we often see fast cars running out of sequence - and the excitement that brings. With the added issue of multiple tyre stops, it could be a very exciting and unpredictable weekend."
