The Lotus Renault Formula One team is aiming for a more successful season this year by improving its standing in the developers list after being in the fifth place last season.
Its principal Eric Boulier said last season they managed to collect 163 points and hoped that this season will be a new benchmark for LRGP.
He said veteran German driver Nick Heidfeld will be paired along with Russian Vitaly Petrov and a lot of modification had been made to the car especially on its front wing to face this challenging season.
"The first race will let us know how the car and the driver perform, then we look forward to improve anything that is lacking," he told reporters at the media luncheon with Group Lotus and Lotus Renault GP here Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Sepang International Circuit, the organisers of the Malaysian leg of the F1, are banking on a higher turnot of fans this year following three teams linked to Malaysia being in the line up.
Its chief executive officer Datuk Razlan Razali said they were targetting at least 100,000 supporters this time around.
He told reporters this after the launching of this season's Malaysian F1 Grand Prix here.
The launching was done by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
