How do you define apocalyse ? What do you call a total WIPEOUT ?
I am not a sadist and neither a pessimist. I am not being paranoid nor am I seeking asylum.
But its only a passing thought that has now gained weight ............... in my cerebrum. I just love being alive and so am concerned about the fact. OoneK now rack (y) our brains or knees or whatever you think from and suggest the biggest reason behind an inevitable doom............
I found one - Formula1...... and please listen to me and keep your brickbats down for a moment. Here first of all how many consider the Petroleum crisis as a problem. How much more are we going to be paying again for it and what have we done for its substitution until now.
All we have done until now is fretting over increasing vehicles and dabbling in Hybrid batteries. And its right. But have you ever thought about Formula1. That’s the point. Let’s do some Math.
F1 specifications claim an average efficiency of 75 ltrs for 100 kms.
And it also says "Formula One cars run on petrol, the specification of which is not that far removed from that used in regular road cars.
Indeed, the FIA regulations state that the rules are “intended to ensure the use of fuels which are predominantly composed of compounds normally found in commercial fuels and to prohibit the use of specific power-boosting chemical compounds"
Fine so let’s take it to be 70% of the fuel to be petroleum!! Thats 53 ltrs.
Now take into account 300kms per race which results in 6000 kms in 20 races for 2011 season. Apart from this add 15000kms limit for testing per team . That makes it 180,000 kms for a 12 team grid ................. Do you see where am i going ?
I am an F1 lover and race day is a no-nonsense day for me too. But reality and practicality are issues which are to be addressed.
What should we hope from F1 in future as a technology base?
How is it going to effect development ?
Or will we be forced to drift on trikes and drag on bicycles in our backyards?
