Timo Glock likely to miss final F1 test after appendix operation

Virgin Racing's Timo Glock could be forced to miss the final pre-season Formula One test in Barcelona after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.
Glock, who was taken ill in the early hours of Monday morning, is currently recovering in a hospital in Switzerland.

The 28-year-old had surgery after a sudden case of appendicitis and the team said he was unlikely to be at the March 8-11 test, although a decision would be made next week.

"The procedure was routine and Timo is recovering well in hospital in Switzerland, where he is likely to remain for a further 24 hours," said team principal John Booth.

"To ensure a swift recovery, it is unlikely that he will take part in next week's test in Barcelona and that (Belgian rookie) Jerome (d'Ambrosio) will run on all four days instead."
